Sextortion Case in Ahmedabad: Two Arrested for Blackmailing and Extorting Money from Victim

The Sola police in Ahmedabad have arrested two individuals, Ansar Hussein Mev and Irshad Mev, from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, for their involvement in a sextortion case. The accused had threatened a 37-year-old Chandlodia resident to make his nude video viral and demanded Rs 5,00,000 to absolve him of all charges, threatening him with jail if he did not pay. Despite paying Rs 8,60,600, the victim killed himself on April 21 when the blackmailing continued.

According to the police, the accused had posed as a CBI inspector and a YouTuber, threatening to make the victim’s nude video viral. The accused had used a fake female identity to befriend the victim on Facebook and then switched the conversation to WhatsApp. They would then use a pre-recorded video of a woman removing her clothes to entice the victim to remove his own clothes. Another mobile phone was used to capture the screen activity and a video would be made in which the victim male would remove his clothes.
Later, the accused would call the victim and tell him that the fake female committed suicide. The accused would then threaten to circulate the victim's nude video and file a police and CBI case against him if he did not pay them the demanded amount.

The accused had used dummy SIM cards to ensure they were not caught. Police caught them from the nearby forest area based on their mobile locations. The two accused used to create fake identities of women to blackmail people.

Police are now questioning the accused about their aides and other persons they may have trapped. The accused will be charged with abetment to suicide, blackmailing, and extortion.

This case is a chilling reminder of the dangers of online predators who use fake identities to extort money from innocent victims. It is essential to stay alert while using social media and be cautious while interacting with strangers online. It is recommended to avoid accepting friend requests from unknown individuals and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities
