The cyber crime branch has achieved yet another success in their efforts to combat cyber threats and illegal activities. This time, they have cracked down on an illegal telephone exchange operating in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. The operation has led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of crucial equipment, shedding light on a potential terror network operating through illegal telephone exchanges.

Uncovering the Illegal Telephone Exchange:

Mashid Gulsher Khan and Mohammad Shahid Alam were apprehended by the cyber crime branch for running an illegal telephone exchange in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. The authorities received information regarding a terror network utilizing this exchange for carrying out criminal activities and conspiracies in Thane, Maharashtra.

Seizure of Equipment and SIM Boxes:

During the raid, the cyber crime branch confiscated four SIM boxes, three routers, three mobile phones, laptops, and 605 SIM cards. The accused individuals were found to be using the SIM boxes to send pre-recorded messages to thousands of people simultaneously. Each SIM box contained up to 32 SIM cards from different states, allowing them to transfer international calls to local calls using VOIP services.

International Connections and Terror Activities:

The illegal network had been using the telephone exchange to make calls to India from Gulf countries. The cyber crime branch suspects that this network has been involved in carrying out terror activities and creating criminal conspiracies. The threatening pre-recorded messages, created by Gurpat Singh, a chief strategist of the Khalistana Sikh for Justice Organization, were targeted at Ahmedabad during an event attended by Indian PM Narendra Modi and Australian PM.

Expanding Investigation and Search for Accused:

The cyber crime branch suspects that similar illegal telephone exchanges may be operating in other states for criminal activities. In response, multiple teams have been deployed to search for the wanted accused individuals. The investigation aims to uncover the extent of the terror network and any potential criminal conspiracies it may be involved in.

The successful crackdown on the illegal telephone exchange in Maharashtra by the cyber crime branch highlights the authorities' determination to combat cybercrime and protect public safety. With the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of crucial equipment, this operation has shed light on a potentially dangerous terror network operating through illegal telephone exchanges. The ongoing investigation and search for the main accused will further reveal the extent of this network's activities and help prevent future threats
